How We Met
Our love story is one that almost never happened at all. When our fraternity and sorority held their first mixer, Matt couldn’t go because he was pulling an all-nighter in his architecture studio, and I was studying for my GRE’s. We are both firm believers that fate tried to bring us together again, and a month later another mixer was planned. Sure enough, we both found ourselves at the mixer that night. A conversation was sparked and we talked, danced, and laughed the rest of the night. Somehow we left without exchanging phone numbers, and I thought I would never see him again. Luckily Matt found me on social media and we soon met up for our first of many pizza dates!
How They Asked
Matt and I had been together for 5 years and we were very excited to go on our first international trip together to Ireland. Matt posted the idea to have a photoshoot done during the trip for us to use as our first Christmas card together this year. My friends suggested getting my nails done before we went on the trip in case “it” happened, but I was so sure it was not going to happen when Matt was way too relaxed with his luggage at the airports!
After spending a few days exploring castles, shopping in Dublin, and visiting my family’s hometown, it was time for the photoshoot. Despite getting lost twice on the winding two-hour drive through the Irish countryside, we finally arrived on the beaches of the Dingle Peninsula for the shoot.
A few minutes into the shoot Matt grabbed my hand, reached into his jacket pocket, and got down on one knee. Matt said, “You are the woman of my dreams, and I cannot think of a more beautiful place to ask the most beautiful woman…will you marry me?”. Of course, I said yes, but only after squeezing his hands and pushing him out of excitement! I could not believe it! On the drive down to Dingle, I had texted my mom and sister that there was no way Matt was going to propose! The photographer brought us around the mountain, down to the beach, and back to downtown Dingle. I’m so happy we’re able to cherish these photos. We were sure to celebrate with a few pints of Guinness and some fish and chips after he proposed. We’re counting down the days till we say “I Do” on October 4, 2020.
