How We Met
Gustavo and I met in high school, we were teacher assistants for the school office. When I would walk into the office I would pass by him and say hello with huge smile on my face. We started talking after a few weeks. Gustavo was in a school club called Tech Crew, they would set up stages for the school choir. One day he told me that he was traveling with the school choir to New York City. I told him that I have always been wanting to visit New York for a long time and that I was very jealous of him. I asked him to send me lots of photos. As I was walking away he told me, “How can I send you photos? I don’t have your number.” I laughed at myself (silly me, haha) and gave him my phone number. We started texting non-stop back and forth and the rest was history! :)
How They Asked
Gustavo and I planned a trip to Tokyo for our 10 year anniversary, this was going to be our first international trip together. We were going to be in Japan for a total of 10 days and we were going to visit Tokyo Disney for 3 days. I am a huge Disney girl! Growing up I would always watch Disney movies and go to Disneyland as often as I can. I have always dreamt of getting proposed to in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. As much as I wanted a proposal to happen on this trip, I knew it wouldn’t happen because Gustavo would always tell me that he would like to finish college before proposing and he still had half a year of college left. So I was not expecting a proposal to happen at all.
On March 19, 2019, it was our first day at Disney. We started the day riding a few rides and having lunch. After lunch, Gustavo asked me if we would like to take some pictures in front of the castle since we still haven’t seen the castle up close. As we were capturing the moment, I saw my best friend get down on one knee and asked me to marry him and spend our happily ever after together. I couldn’t have asked for a better proposal! After countless visits to our favorite place on earth, this one was by far the best visit ever!
