How We Met
Ryan and I both swiped right on Bumble. As everyone knows on Bumble, women initiate the conversation! I sent him a very basic “Hi, how’s it going.” His response was what had me laughing and interested in continuing the thread. “If you were a vegetable, you’d be a cutecumber.” As corny as it was, it put a smile on my face so I decided to give him my number. We went on our first date just a couple days after and the rest is history! Almost 3 years later, I still remember his Bumble response like it was yesterday!
How They Asked
Ryan had surprised me on Christmas with a trip booked to Kauai in March. We both love to travel to tropical destinations as we had gone to the Dominican Republic and Maui together the first year we started dating. We always heard that Kauai was one of the most beautiful islands in the world, so I was so excited to go! I honestly didn’t think he was going to propose since we had talked about it happening around summer. I probably should have known that if he was telling me it would happen in the summer, it wouldn’t actually be happening in the summer lol!
We arrived in Kauai on Monday, March 2nd. We flew with another couple and dropped them off at their Air BnB and headed to our hotel where we stayed – Grand Sheraton Kauai. We had plans to go to happy hour that evening around 6 PM. Ryan had said he wanted to go explore the hotel and beach we were staying on before happy hour. I got ready and we left our room to go on a walk. Our hotel was right on Poipu beach, known to be one of the worlds most beautiful beaches. We started walking toward the beach and he began saying how much he loved me and how he wanted this to be one of the best trips of my life.
He started taking me onto the sand and told me to take my shoes off. I looked over and there was a giant heart made of flowers right on the sand. He sarcastically goes “oh my gosh, what is that?!” I knew he was about to propose. He led me inside of the heart, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him! He put my dream ring on my finger and I looked back and a photographer was shooting pictures! The other couple that came with us on the trip who are my best friends started running toward us and embraced Ryan and I. As soon as that moment happened, it began to rain!! It was almost perfect timing that he proposed right before it downpour! Hands-down best trip of my life for sure! I can’t wait to marry you Ryan David Sachs! #SachsiLeeeverafter!
