How We Met
I came home from work one evening to find the neighbors door propped open with moving boxes. As the polite but very nosey neighbor, I knocked/walked in to introduce myself and found Ward playing video games surrounded by unpacked boxes. I was instantly smitten by Ward but had to play it cool, he was my new neighbor after all.
We would make some small talk during our random run-ins, but a mutual friend would finally aid the exchanging of numbers… (Apparently we were both too stubborn to ask). Ward and I are big time fans sports fan, so every conversation there after mostly included sports. After months of interesting flirtations which included blue diamond toasted coconut almonds, Ward finally pulled the trigger. In October of 2013, the Red Sox were playing the St. Louis Cardinals in the world series. We both happen to be Red Sox fans, so we decided to watch the series together. SPARKS. We have been inseparable ever since.
how they asked
It was my first vacation with Ward’s family at Vail Resort in Colorado. I was so excited/nervous for not only my first family vacation but my first snowboard trip to Colorado, too. Needless to say, thoughts of a Vail proposal were far from my mind. It was Saint Patrick’s Day and the family gathered for lunch at Bistro Fourteen on the top of the mountain at Eagle Nest. This had been regular lunch spot during our vacation and warranted no suspicion. I had purchased a novelty picture frame earlier in the week and bugged Ward to take a “scenic” picture with me for our frame.
Unknowingly, I was playing right into his scheme. We ordered lunch, then Ward suggested we go take a picture while the EpicMix photographers were at the top of the mountain. He told me it was a pretty popular shot, so we should hurry. Excited to finally get my scenic pI true, I quickly obliged. As we made our way to the photographer, Ward started to explain the history and significance of Mount of the Holy Cross. We took a couple photos, then Ward asked for one more pose. I stood there waiting for Ward to suggest something goofy,
but when I turned he was on one knee.
Best.Proposal.Ever. The rest is history!
