How We Met
Vinny and I started going to school together when we were 5 and 6. I was in kindergarten and he was in first grade. Flash forward to our middle school years, we continued going to the same school until he graduated eighth grade. When I was in seventh grade, I had the BIGGEST crush on him. My class knew, his class knew and even our teachers know. I would constantly be stealing his hat at recess, writing his name on my notebooks, typical middle school crush stuff.. but he didn’t like me. We danced together at some school dances, he came to my birthday parties, but that was all until we were in high school. My sophomore year we got closer and he asked me out at my sweet 16!
How They Asked
Vinny asked me to be his girlfriend on May 22, 2010, at my Sweet Sixteen (finally, after me crushing on him since 7th grade). The night of my party we took pictures in front of the tree outside of where the party was. After dating for almost two years and then breaking up for four, we’ve now been back together for almost four. Every year we celebrate what we call, “our fakiversary” by doing something small. This year it was my idea to have a picnic where my Sweet 16 was and recreate pictures we took that night. When we got there, one of Vinny’s friends (@r_rodriguez.23) was there to take pictures of us to “surprise me with a photoshoot” since Vinny knows I’m always hiring people to take our pictures or annoying him with selfie sticks and camera timers. As we were taking pictures (but not actually because Ricky was actually filming), Vinny proposed in front of that same tree we have pictures in front of from nine years ago.
