How We Met
Trevor, my husband, is in the Navy stationed outside of Saratoga Springs, New York and is originally from Washington State. It was a 1-in-a-million chance that we would meet. I was out for drinks with my best friend for her birthday and Trevor came up to me and we started chatting. We exchanged numbers that night. Trevor contacted me the next day and asked if I would like to get dinner with him. After getting dinner together a few nights later, we were inseparable. If I had never decided to go out for drinks with my friend that night, or even just decided to sit in a different part of the pub, I would have never met Trevor. How we met makes me believe sometimes things really do happen for a reason.
how they asked
The proposal was definitely a surprise to me. Trevor decided to invest in a house for us while stationed in New York. This was a big step for us, since we were not married or even engaged at the time. He asked me what houses I liked, and even let me pick the one he bought out, which I knew was a very big deal. We eventually moved into the house that I selected and he asked me if I wanted to get pictures outside of it to remember our first home. Of course I said yes. Trevor was super sneaky and had my best friend’s fiance take pictures of us on the porch of our new home, and it was at that moment that he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He made moving into our new home together the most special weekend of my life when he asked me to be his wife. I know Trevor spent a great deal of time picking out my ring , keeping the ring hidden, and also brainstorming ideas for the proposal. It worked out just right that we were able to close on our first home and then move in soon after he picked up my ring from the jeweler. Things fell perfectly into place for our surprise proposal.
