Erica and Caleb
how we met
Caleb reached out to me on Facebook on July 24, 2017. By July 28th we went on our first date to Outback Steakhouse in Macon, Ga. We instantly hit it off and I swear it felt like I had known him for years that night! At this time my life was fixing to get overwhelmingly busy starting my cheerleading season at Georgia Southern so I was unsure of when I was going to be able to see him again because I didn’t get to come home that often. So, Caleb came to Statesboro on the 29th to take me out on another date and since then we’ve probably spent a total of 3 days a part. It was one of those moments when you just knew!
how they asked
Caleb and I had been talking about getting engaged for about six months before the engagement. During the process we occasional went looking at rings but I finally got to the point where I told Caleb that the ring wasn’t what mattered to me, it was about being his partner for life. However, I had a feeling Caleb went ring shopping on the day I know now that he purchased but I knew not to pry! Earlier that week Caleb got my fathers blessing and just woke up on December 8, 2018 that he was ready! I loved being a part of Caleb’s piloting process and every chance he allowed me to go fly with him I would take. So, on December 8, 2018 he woke me up at 8 A.M. telling me to get dressed that we were going flying, put something nice on, and we were leaving at 8:30 A.M. Talk about a panic attack for a girl- 30 minutes! We got to the airport and flew around for about an hour and on the last touch and go Caleb asked me to get his log book out of his book bag which I knew then something was wrong because I always helped him log them when he got home! Well, I wasn’t moving quick enough obviously and he reached in there and pulled out the ring box and turned around to propose! I was completely in shock but so excited that it was actually happening! The man of my dreams had just asked me to be his wife!! When we landed both of our families were sanding by the runway waiting. How romantic, right?
