How We Met: Eric and I met in Washington, D.C.in 2004 when we were both in high school on a young leaders trip. He is from near Akron, Ohio and I am from just outside of Philadelphia.
After five years of random texts and Facebook posts, I decided to call him out of the blue in July of 2009 and he drove all the way from Ohio to Long Island where I was still attending school for the Fourth of July.
Ever since then we have been dating – four years of long distance, and for the last two years we have lived together in Philadelphia.
how they asked: This past weekend, we went to D.C. to celebrate our six year anniversary and see the Foo Fighters in concert – and I thought those were the only two reasons. Eric wanted to walk around the National Mall so we went to the World War II Memorial to sit by the fountains (a beautiful spot).
I then suggested we take a walk up to the Lincoln Memorial and little did I know, Eric’s wheels were turning and he was getting ready to propose.
We went to take a look at Abe and the turned around to get a look at the breathtaking view. Eric suggested we get our picture taken so I handed my phone to an innocent bystander to take it.
As I went to get my phone back, he stopped me, got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. There were hundreds of people clapping and cheering for us as I said yes! It was a perfect moment and we were lucky enough to get it caught on camera. We are even luckier to be spending the rest of our lives together!
