How We Met
We swiped right for each other almost 4 years ago. Tom was born in Scotland and has lived in England, Oman, Venezuela, Cayman Islands before attending university just outside of Boston. I was born and raised in a town south of Boston and I also attended the same university a year after him. Despite both of us attending the same small college for 3 years, and working at the same company after graduation, a dating app brought us together. We did know many of the same people, roommates, friends; however no one had ever introduced us. Our first date of truffle fries and Moscow mules began a relationship full of laughs, hosting parties, travel, and watching other people’s dogs with jealousy. We moved into a 550 square foot apartment over a year later in which I had to learn a new meaning of the word messy and my fiance had to learn Monday nights were not for football, but Bachelor nation viewing parties.
How They Asked
Tom’s parents and brother were visiting Boston during the 4th of July 2019 weekend from overseas. It was Tom’s parent’s anniversary and he convinced us all that we were going to take a picture of the entire family (myself included) with the Boston skyline in front of our apartment building, before embarking on Boston’s famous Freedom Trail. As Tom’s parents began to pose for their anniversary photograph and to everyone’s surprise, Tom knelt down on one knee and asked the question I had always wanted to hear. Little did I know, our friends and family were watching from the apartment building and Tom (and my sister) had arranged for a Boston photographer to capture our first moments together as an engaged couple. Drinks and celebrations followed with both families and friends to celebrate the most perfect day.
