How We Met
Sean and I met through our church’s youth group. When we met, he was fourteen and I was fifteen. We became friends and got to know each other more throughout high school. In my junior year of high school, I asked Sean to be my date to the prom. I was so happy when he said “yes” (little did I know one day I would be saying “yes” to him)! Shortly, after prom, we started dating and have been together ever since!
How They Asked
I spent most of the day Saturday preparing for the graduation pictures that I had scheduled for Sunday. My mom and I went to get my nails done and then went shopping for an outfit. I ended up getting a dress for the Christmas party I was going to that night and for my upcoming college graduation. After shopping, Sean and I went our separate ways to get ready for the Christmas party. The dress code for the party was formal just like it had been the year before so I did not think much of having to dress up. Once we were ready, Sean and I along with a couple of our friends drove over to Downtown Disney.
The plan was to meet the rest of the party at the Grand Californian to take Christmas pictures like we had the year before. As we walking over, we walked through the Disneyland Hotel. The Disneyland Hotel is a special place for my family because this is where my parents got married! As we were walking through the hotel, we came upon the Rose Court Garden. Sean turned to me and asked me if I wanted to walk down to the gazebo. At the point, I noticed that our friends that came with us had stopped following us. As soon as we started to walk down the pathway, I knew what was happening. As we walked through the courtyard, Sean told me how much he loved me and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me.
When we got to the gazebo, Sean got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said, “Of course!” It was one of the happiest moments of my life. A few minutes later, my parents came around the corner and surprised me! Shortly after, Sean’s mom, grandma, aunt, and uncle joined us too. It turns out that Sean had arranged to have our friend Micah who had carpooled with us take pictures of the whole proposal. The proposal was perfect and I was so surprised! I am so blessed to be engaged to such a thoughtful man. (And yes—the ring box did light up)
