How We Met
We met in a coffee shop. We both ordered the same drink, iced caramel macchiato. He was wearing a soccer jersey and I instantly said hello, something I never do. We sat and talked about everything, and haven’t stopped.

Michael and I are both avid hikers. We love exploring Colorado together and climbing mountains. We live close enough to Rocky Mountain National Park that we are able to go quite frequently. Over the better part of 3 years, we have tried to climb Flattop Mountain in the Park. Though we have climbed higher and more difficult mountains, flattop remained unconquered. We have been turned away due to blizzards, winds, whiteout conditions, etc. Finally, on January 4th, we set out to attempt the climb again. Covered in snow and battered by high winds, we trekked on. After a few hours, we reached the top! It was freezing cold and the wind was horrible. The view, however, was beautiful. We were alone on the summit and Michael decided this was the place to get down on one knee and ask me to marry him. I couldn’t help but ask if this was real life. Michael later asked if he should have done it somewhere else. I told him, no! Whatever may come our way in life, no matter how difficult, we will summit together.
