How We Met

Kyle and I met in seventh grade. We grew up being around each other because one of my best friends, Haley, was also one of his. Things were just as slow as that until our sophomore year of high school. I vividly remember leaning over to Haley, and a few of our other friends, at the lunch table as Kyle walked by and said “He’s gonna be so hot when he gets older.” From there, Haley got the three of us to hang out quite a bit, which obviously I didn’t mind. Then, one night there was a bonfire and Kyle was there (YES!!!). He ended up sitting next to me, and kept me warm…… who would have known that in 4(ish) years we would be best friends, madly in love, and getting married!!

Wedding Proposal Ideas in Paris

how they asked

Summer of 2016, Kyle, his family, and I took a trip to Europe. We started out in London, and our last stop was in Paris. I was having the time of my life and didn’t think it could get any better. We had eaten amazing food, gone on one of a kind bus tours, shopped at places I can’t even describe, had 471342 Kodak moments, and walked what felt like hundreds of the easiest miles ever. I had joked a few times with Kyle about getting engaged in Europe, but in my mind I was 99.99% sure it wouldn’t happen, which is why it was even greater. While in Paris, Kyle’s mom suggested to get dressed up and do a fancy dinner, which I totally went along with because who doesn’t wanna get dolled up, walk around paris, and eat some delish food? Who knows. But anyway… It was Sunday, June 19, 2016 in Paris, France. AKA: The city of love. We had done some sight seeing, and shopping, of course, earlier in the day and had come back to our flat to rest and freshen up a little bit.

I rummaged through my suit case looking for a cute outfit because I knew we would pass a million and one photo ops, and I wanted to be ready for every single one of them. Little did I know I was dressing for my own engagement. I tried on what felt like everything that I had brought, touched up my make up, brushed my hair, and we were off. We were going to dinner at a super nice place by the Louvre so Kyle suggested walking around the Louvre it’s self and taking some family pictures. ( Which made sense to why Kyle’s brother had his big, nice camera). We walked into the courtyard and everything felt normal. Not a question crossed my mind. We all admired the awesome scenery, and took some cute pictures because we all looked so cute, and we were also in freakin’ paris, and the freakin’ Louvre.

After a few minutes, Kyle grabbed my hand and we started to venture off on our own, or so I thought. Nothing felt different as this is what we had been doing the whole trip. We would wander off here and there, no big deal. As we walked around the Louvre hand in hand, Kyle stopped, grabbed both my hands and looked at me in the eyes. Just when I thought life couldn’t get any better…. IT DID! His hands started to shake. I started to hug and kiss him before he could even talk. I looked over to the side and saw his whole family with their phones, and cameras, and then I totally knew something was up. After a few seconds of me hugging him, he got down on one knee. My heart started to beat so fast, and tears swelled out of our eyes. Kyle said his cute words, and asked me to marry him.

He stood up with the ring box still open and I seriously was speechless. I could not move a muscle and my smile would not go away. “Well, put it on!” he said to me. I looked at him crying and he slipped the ring onto my finger. It wasn’t just any ring. It was the ring of my freakin’ dreams, AND, he designed it himself!

After the worlds best proposal had taken place, his family came over crying and smiling and we all hugged. When I thought things couldn’t get any sweeter, it did.

I quickly got on the phone with my mom to tell her the news. Only she had known the whole time. Kyle had gone to her before our trip and asked for her permission and her blessing. June 19, 2016 wasn’t only the day I got engaged to the man of my dreams, but it was also Father’s Day. My dad passed away 2 years ago. Kyle proposed to me on Father’s Day so that my dad could be recognized, and part of one of the best days of my life. Our proposal went so smooth, and I literally didn’t have any speculation in my mind. It was a total surprise to me! I can’t wait to get married this coming May to a man who is so sweet and so caring. The fact that he included my sweet dad in our proposal was one of the most special and most tender things.

Thanks to Haley for setting us up, Kyle’s family for the best trip of my life, my mom for giving us her blessing, and to all of our other friends and family who have supported us along the way. We love and adore you all!

Special Thanks
