How We Met
We met at work. The day after our first conversation, I walked into my other work and announced to everyone that I was in love. After our first date, I knew this wasn’t going to be an ordinary relationship. This was it.
How They Asked
Sundays are the only day we have off together so it didn’t seem off that Joe had planned a whole day for us. He told me he’d planned for us to go for a walk at a nearby park, go ring shopping (again!!!), and then go to dinner at our favorite restaurant.
We went for our walk and Joe led us towards a bridge. As we got closer, I said “Oh, this isn’t as cute as it looked from further away” to which Joe replied, “No, no, it’s really cute, I swear!!” Once we were on the bridge, Joe turned and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life. But the surprises weren’t over. He pointed over to the fence off in the distance and said “Recognize him?” My older brother stood there waving, camera in hand – he had captured the whole thing and was the first person to congratulate us.
Upon arriving home, Joe had arranged for 15 bouquets of flowers to be set up around our apartment. Everywhere I looked, there were more flowers – it was absolute magic. Again, he didn’t stop there. We pulled up to the restaurant for our date night and I was so excited to continue to celebrate with my now fiance. Walking through the restaurant, I started to realize we were walking really far back into the restaurant, towards two large double doors. Through the doors, I saw my Dad, then my mom, then as the doors opened, I saw all of my best friends and Joe’s standing there with huge smiles on their faces. I have never felt more surprised or more loved, all at once. We enjoyed the night, surrounded by the people in my life that I love the most.
The day was magic. The flowers were magic. This man that I get to marry, is magic.
