How We Met
I have literally grown up and matured with my now fiancé, Eugene. I met him when I was 20 years old, still using my older sister’s license to get into clubs. July 2009 We met at a bar called Porky’s in NYC, and it was very interesting how we met since we both were technically not supposed to be there that August evening, 9 years ago. My cousin had dragged me to go out that particular night despite my protest to stay in.
Eugene is my cousin’s, coworker’s younger brother; he was also dragged to go out that night but originally did not want to due to getting over a cold. After meeting him, however, it was an instant connection and attraction between us and the rest was history. For the past 9 years, we grew together and learned more about each other. There have been ups and downs of course, and all kinds of obstacles that are called life that has only made us stronger as time goes on. He has not only been an amazing partner, but a best friend, and soulmate.
How They Asked
11.10.18. It was just a regular Saturday that I, unfortunately, had to work. A few days before, Eugene had suggested we meet in the city to grab a bite after I got out from work, which was a norm for us. I met him in Flatiron; after we greeted each other he reminded me that right across the street was the place we had first met 9 years before. I completely did not even recognize it at first (it is no longer a bar and has been renovated) and when I did, a sense of deja vu came over me.
We reminisced for a few minutes, and a few moments later, he got down on one knee and proposed!! I was so shocked I didn’t even understand what was happening (as you can see my mouth was wide open in the picture!) My older sister and best friend were around the corner waiting, they had been in on the proposal for months. There was also a secret photographer, it was truly amazing.
I had another surprise that night, my fiancé, best friend, and sister got all our closest friends together and it turned into a surprise engagement party. It was a night that I will never forget, and I can not wait to walk down the aisle with my soulmate. I’m so ready to be a Mrs. ️!!!!
