How We Met
We met 7 years ago in Memphis training for an airline to be flight attendants. I was to be based in Detroit and him Atlanta. We were immediately paired together for a project and there was chemistry right away. We had quite a bit in common and Matt was so funny and sweet. We ended up having rooms right next to each other and hung out most days for a month straight. We both have a love for baseball and although we root for opposing teams it was nice to find someone who enjoyed playing and watching the sport as much as I do. Over the past 7 years, we have made a life together in Georgia south of Atlanta. He made sure to plan the perfect engagement and boy was it a surprise! I cannot wait to marry this sweet, funny, and thoughtful man.
How They Asked
We met almost 7 years ago in training to become flight attendants. We now work for Delta Air Lines and honestly, our favorite destination is home. But this past January my now fiance asked me since we have 2 weeks off work if I would like to go to the airport and hop on a flight. Little did I know he already had the entire trip planned. We first flew to Buenos Aires, which I thought was our final stop. Boy was I wrong.
Next, we flew to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the World. Which is also known as The End of the World. Also not our final destination. The next day we showed up at a cruise port, again I had no idea where we were going. We boarded a ship and that’s when they informed me we were on our way to Antarctica on a 10-day cruise. We had many excursions throughout the 10 days and saw thousands of penguins, tons of seals, and so many glaciers.
It honestly looked like another planet. Once we made it to the Antarctic Continent Matt got down on one knee, we were surrounded by penguins, which is my favorite animal, and he proposed. I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect day or a more perfect engagement. Something I will remember for the rest of my life. We celebrated by taking the polar plunge in the Arctic waters. It was a trip and an engagement of a lifetime.
