How We Met
Chad and I met freshman year of college at Indiana University. It was not your typical love at first sight meeting—During move in day as I headed toward my new dorm, I heard a boy yelling down the hallway trying to get my attention. I rolled my eyes and ignored him, but little did I know I would one day be marrying the boy that flirted with me on the first day of college. We both dated other people through our 4 years of undergrad, but remained close friends. We always shared a strong connection and finally got the chance to date after graduation.
how they asked
Chad and I had been dating for a little over two years when his family asked me to go on vacation with them. On New Years Eve, Chad’s mother, Cindy, had scheduled family photos to be taken. Shortly into the session, the photographer started taking photos of couples within the family and eventually it was our turn. We took a few photos and his mom asked if she could get a few more of the immediate family. As I walked out of the frame, Chad grabbed my hand and as the sun began to set by the ocean, I turned around and he was tearing up as he began talking about our journey together. He talked about that very first day in the dorms, 6 years prior and how he instantly knew we needed to know one another(even though he wasn’t sure if I would give him the chance ;)). He told me that he wanted to take care of me for the rest of his life and got down on one knee and asked the question every girl dreams about. It was the perfect way to ring ?? in the New Year!
