How We Met
Social media plays a huge role in the lives of everyday individuals, and in mine it just so happened to give me the love of my life. On August 13th, 2013, it all started with a simple message and the rest is history.
Al and I had mutual friends but never had the pleasure of running into each other due to me being in college more then two hours away. Although, we did not let distance get the best of us and after all the hour-long phone calls, dinner dates, adventures, and laughs, it did not take us long to fall madly in love with one another.

Al and I love to experience new firsts together, so one day when he brought up the idea of taking a helicopter ride I could not deny the request. I had been working all summer and thought it was an amazing idea for a date. Although, this was not out of the ordinary for us, up until this day we’ve taken numerous adventures together and this was just another one for the books!
The morning of the proposal I conveniently had a breakfast event that I had to attend for work, in which required me to dress extra nice. Following my obligations, Al had come to pick me up so we can enjoy the rest of the day together. As I stepped into the car and took one look at what he was wearing the first thing that came out of my mouth was “Why are you so dressed up?”. He responded with “I want us to take nice pictures on the helicopter today, look I even brought my own camera!” in which, he did, so I let it slide.
Before our scheduled ride, Al took us out to eat at one of my favorite restaurants and I could already tell it was going to be a great day. I remember how handsome he looked and even in those simple moments I felt like the luckiest girl alive. After lunch, we headed towards downtown New York City and awaited our ride.
Each helicopter holds about 4 or 5 passengers so those traveling in smaller groups would be put together with others. Al and I suspiciously had only one other passenger coming for the ride with us, but I put that thought to the side. As we entered the helicopter we put on our headsets, introduced ourselves to our pilot, the mystery passenger, and then we were off!
I’ve lived in New York all of my life, but I’ve never seen the Big Apple from such a beautiful point of view. We toured the entire city ranging from the Statue of Liberty to the Freedom Tower, and just as we were passing by the Empire State Building I heard Al calling my name.
Distracted by the view, I turned around only to see Al, down on one knee, telling me how much he loves me, asking him to marry him!
To this day I still do not remember exactly what was said, all I know is that in that moment I’ve never been more happy in my entire life. I had every emotion run through me and of course I said YES! I then turned to look at the mystery passenger only to see that he was recording, and taking pictures of the entire thing!
Al had set up everything so perfectly, from the setting, what I was wearing, to having a secret photographer, all just to make this moment so special for the both of us.
I look forward to spending the rest of my life with my soulmate.
