How We Met
Alex and I “met” at my friend Sarah and Evan’s wedding. I was a bridesmaid and he is best friends with the bride’s younger brother. It turns out we had met previously, a number of times, at our friends’ house growing up! But because he was younger, we both never paid each other any mind. We even have photos of us together from 10 years ago at an Easter party!
We hit it off at the wedding, which was in Alabama, and talked the next day about what a blast it had been. Back in Atlanta, he asked me out on a date a few days later and I knew pretty quickly that he was the one.
Less than a year into dating, Alex had his DREAM JOB offer fall in his lap. This meant he would have to move from Atlanta to Richmond, VA. He came over to my apartment to break the news and we were both pretty devastated. We agreed to try our best to make it work long distance and see where things went from there. Once he moved to Richmond, it was clear that this was going to be too difficult for us! I flew up to visit him a few weeks later and decided to apply for a few teaching jobs to see what happened. I got offered all four jobs and we truly felt like it was meant to be (cue Meant to Be by FL/GA Line— our summer anthem). We talked it over with our parents and friends and decided to go for it! I moved to Richmond too!
How They Asked
We’ve spent the year since moving exploring our new city together. There is no shortage of fun things to do, new foods to try, and sights to see. He is the perfect travel partner and always up for an adventure. On the Saturday of our engagement, we went to our favorite farmers market and had brunch at a local favorite in our neighborhood. At sunset he took me to Libby Hill, my favorite view of our little city, and asked me to be his wife! It was a truly magical day. The next weekend we flew home to celebrate with friends and family in Atlanta. I am so lucky to get to call this man mine!
