Ellayna and Michael

How We Met:Back in 2007 according to Image 1 of Ellayna and MichaelMike we met at a recording studio I worked for in RI; at the time I was young and naive and sadly did not remember meeting Mike. When we talk about our first encounters together, I asked why he never proceeded to ask me out when he thought I was cute, his response…I was young and naive :)

Officially we met in August 2010 at Snookers in Providence, RI. I was on a blind date that my friend Leah pushed me to go on(I fought about going) and Mike was there with his two cousins, Jay and Jamie. Out of my corner of my eye, I noticed Jamie and Jay and went over to say hello. Not knowing who Mike was, politely I said hi and went on with my night.

A few days later, Mike friend requested me on Facebook. Not really knowing who he was again, but still intrigued, I accepted his friend request. As the weeks went by and when I was visiting my father in Connecticut, I received a notification from Facebook stating Mike left a comment on one of my photos. It turns out he was making fun of me and my eyes in the photo.

I demanded he call me (I gave him my number) so I can give him a stern talking to. After a week of texting and phone calls, we started hanging out more.

I would be going on these awful online dates and would call Mike as I was leaving asking to go get drinks. As time went on, I realized more and more how I started to fall for him and how stupid I was to go on these dates when I had an amazing man already.

Fast forward, we have been together for almost 5 years. Last summer we moved into our first apartment together and three weeks ago, we took a major step forward and bought our first house. Our relationship is based on a deep friendship. We were friends for quite sometime before we became a couple. We are always laughing and poking fun at each other.

how they asked: Since living together, I have always given Mike a hard time about proposing and getting engaged. In November 2014, the Saturday before Thanksgiving we were heading out to do some Christmas shopping and again here I go questioning about the engagement, we ended up going to a local jewelry store to “Just Look”.Image 3 of Ellayna and Michael

At first, the woman behind the counter showed us a ring that I did look at a year before but the spark was no longer there for me.

She showed me a second and I still was not convinced we would find the one. (Third Times A Charm!) She pulled out this gorgeous twisted engagement ring which made my eyes light up and my heart skip a beat. Both Mike and I knew it was the one! Not expecting Mike to do anything with me there, the woman explained to him the sale (amazing customer service) and he put a deposit on the ring that night.

Fast forward 7 months, 1 week & 3 days later (but who’s counting!?!) I had a job interview scheduled for the morning of June 9th, 2015. The evening before, I by rubbing my head and kissing my forehead.

Not amused and extremely tired…I begged him to let me sleep longer but said he had a question for me before jumping in the shower. I thought he was going to ask what there was for breakfast. Not thrilled I said ‘what?!’, slowly opened my eyes and saw him holding a small ring box!

I immediately jumped up and repeatedly asked ‘Oh my God are you serious? Is this for real?’ He smiled and said, ‘Yes, you know that I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you and I know you have been waiting a real long time for this’. He got down on his knee and asked me to marry him! Oh course I said yes and have been in shock ever since!

It was the perfect proposal. A special moment between just us that I couldn’t have imagined it to be anymore perfect. All the while we were still in our PJs! :)
