Elizabeth and Zach
How they met: Zach and Elizabeth both attended Georgia College & State University, where they were very involved on campus. The two began working together on several on-campus projects and studying for classes together. Zach and Elizabeth realized what a great team they made and the two have been inseparable ever since.
how they asked: Elizabeth woke up November 2, 2013 thinking it was just another Saturday… well as normal as any Georgia v. Florida game day could be. Unbeknownst to her, Zach had planned a day full of activities and fun that would end up leaving her speechless (a feat in itself).
The day began with breakfast at Another Broken Egg at Peachtree Battle. Zach and Elizabeth frequent this local-esq diner following church on Sundays.
After breakfast, Zach drove Elizabeth to the Chastain Arts Festival where they walked around and enjoyed the brisk autumn air. Zach attempted to convince Elizabeth they needed to purchase their first piece of art that day. This was quite the task considering Elizabeth does not appreciate art like Zach does. After walking for what seemed like days, they finally found a piece they both enjoy.
Then, Zach dropped Elizabeth off so she could shower and change for their meeting that afternoon. Several weeks earlier Zach forwarded Elizabeth an email from his boss requesting their presence at a venue to tour for a national digital meeting in January. Elizabeth was less than enthused and apprehensively agreed- as long as they could be finished by 3 to watch the game.
Zach picked Elizabeth up around 1. They were both running a little late, yet Zach didn’t seem to mind (this should have been a sign). They arrived at the Swan House and Zach insisted on walking around the gardens in the back of the house before going inside to meet his boss. The yard at the Swan House is quite extensive and the further away from the house they walked the more flustered Elizabeth became, because they were late for their meeting.
As they approached the “spot” Zach had chosen weeks in advance, he stopped her and asked “Do you remember our first date?” Elizabeth said “Yes…” unsure of where the question was leading. Zach replied “It was an adventure around Milledgeville, today has been an adventure around Atlanta…” As he got down on one knee he said “…and I want to spend the rest of my life going on an adventure with you. Will you marry me?” Completely shocked Elizabeth shouted “Oh my gosh, YES!”, the photographer popped out from behind a wall, capturing the entire proposal.
After the proposal, Zach arranged brunch with both families at the Horseradish Grill, where he had the restaurant opened just for them. Needless to say, they were not able to watch the Georgia v. Florida game, but Elizabeth thinks that is quite alright.
