How We Met
I met Ryan as a freshman in high school. We had mutual friends and soon became good friends ourselves. I would go support him at his soccer games. I moved away to Florida for a couple years and dated other boyfriends. I moved back to my hometown, where Ryan and I started to spend time together again. We dated our last two years of high school, though he moved to another state too.
Ryan and I attended and graduated from the same college near our hometown.
How They Asked
At this time, we had known each other for almost seven years and had been dating for five. Ryan and I spent the afternoon Christmas shopping, and he knew Christmas was one of my favorite times of the year. He surprised me by taking me to a Christmas lights show in Boones Mill, VA. We drove up a mountain then all of a sudden came to this huge clearing decorated with thousands of Christmas lights and a light tree. We drank hot chocolate and had cookies next to their fire pit. We had someone take our picture under the 40 ft light tree. He then got down on one knee and asked me for forever with my full name “will you marry me?” I was so surprised! Of course, I said yes to marrying my best friend. Ryan had my engagement ring custom made, and it is absolutely perfect and beautiful.
