How We Met
Last summer, I got a job at a local brewery, Hamilton Family Brewery, and Mikey was one of my regulars. I always thought he was cute, but he had never really tried to interact with me, and I was leaving back to college in a few months, so I decided not to pursue him. But, about halfway through summer, he told one of my coworkers who is one of his closest friends that he thought I was cute, so I decided to make my move. One day, I was leaving my work and I saw Mikey pull up with my coworker, so I made a U-turn and asked if he wanted to have a beer with me. From there, we ended up going thrifting, getting coffee, and hanging out until I had to go back to work. We spent the rest of the summer going on dates and getting to know each other whenever we could, but we never really talked about what was going to happen when I went back to school. At the end of my summer, I left and we kept talking every day and video chatting when we could, and one day, he called me his girlfriend, and the rest is history.
how they asked
Mikey and I had been talking about how we wanted to go to Disneyland for months, but since he is in the military and I was at a school in a different state, it was difficult to plan. In August, he told me he bought a plane ticket home for a few days to see me. He told me he wanted to go to Disneyland and I thought it was a great idea since it was right around his birthday, and I know how much he loves Disneyland. On September 2nd, we woke up and went to Disneyland as soon as they opened. The night before Mikey kept telling me that we had to go to Snow White’s Wishing Well as soon as we got there because it was always the first place he went to the park.
Once we got to the wishing well, I asked another couple if they wanted their picture taken. While I was doing this, Mikey recruited another bystander to take a video of us wishing at the wishing well. We got up to it, and Mikey handed me a penny and told me to make a wish on 3. After we both made our wish, I looked at him and he asked what I wished for, and I told him that I couldn’t tell him or else it wouldn’t come true. Then he leaned in and pulled out the box, and got on one knee and said, “Well, I want my wish to come true. Will you marry me?” Once I finally got over being shocked, I told him yes (obviously)!
And we lived happily ever after.
