how we met
Austin and I are simply high school sweethearts! We met our sophomore year and started dating in the summer between our sophomore and junior year. We have been together since. He got called on his LDS mission to Guatemala and I served a mission in Washington state. We wrote the whole two years. Even though it was hard to be apart for that time, we grew together and grew even closer to one another. Thinking back on the two years we were apart, it sometimes seems really short but in other aspects it seemed very, very long.
how they asked
Just a little over two months after Austin returned from his mission, he asked the best question he could have ever asked me. He asked me to marry him. He told me there was a wedding reception Thursday night up in Brighton Canyon that he wanted us to attend. So we got all dressed up and headed to the canyon. It was a beautiful drive heading up the mountains and jamming out to music the whole way there.
We walked on the boardwalk taking us to our destination when I saw a huge board with pictures of us and the question, “will you marry me” in beautiful gold calligraphy. There were rose petals leading the way with pictures strung across the boardwalk.
It was the perfect moment. It was the best proposal I could ever think of. In fact, after years of thinking how this moment would be, I never imagined it would be that perfect.
