Elise and Sage

How We Met

Sage and I met when we were in high school, funnily enough I was on a date with one of his mates, we had gone to a local baseball game one night and he decided to bring along two friends, one of whom was Sage. We instantly bonded, in fact I don’t think I even spoke to my date the whole night! The next day we began chatting on MSN (that was the hype back then), we started hanging out on the weekends and our friendship blossomed. A mutual friend dropped the bomb that Sage liked me ‘more than a friend’ and after a quick chat via MSN we established that we were now boyfriend and girlfriend!

how they asked

I had been a little stressed out lately, Sage recently started working away on mines and I was in desperate need for a little getaway and some family time! He booked a little blue beach house for the weekend, right across the road from the beach, we packed up the car and headed down south with the two kiddies Peyton, 2, and Xander, 6 months, for the weekend.

On the Sunday we had a relax day, the four of us fell asleep on the couch watching cartoons that afternoon, when we woke up Sage said he had surprises for us all! He ran out to the car (yes he left the ring in the car overnight!!) and brought back two gift bags. He pulled out two boxes, one for each of the kids. Peyton opened hers first to find a gorgeous gold bracelet and then helped Xander to unwrap his, a stunning silver bangle.

We dotted over their gifts for ten minutes or so, but where was mine?! Sage asked if mummy wanted a surprise too, ummm yes of course I do!! He came and sat next to me on the seriously dated blue couch, hands behind his back. “I know we joke about this all the time” (I had given him a time limit, I Said that if he hadn’t popped the question by the leap year next year that I would ask him!) “But I’ve been planning to ask you for a long long time! Ive asked your dad for permission, and he said yes, so will you marry me?” Then ever so slowly (like seriously slow) he opened up the little orange box! “YES!! Of course I will”

My beautiful friend and photographer Belle Verdiglione captured some snaps a few days after we returned home to use to announce to our family and friends!
