How we met – by Jordyn: Cory and I met the fall of 2011 at Oceans Edge School where we both attended. There was an immediate attraction and we’ve been dating ever since!
After almost 3 years together I was starting to grow very anxious. I’d known for a long time that I was going to marry Cory, so I knew it was just a matter of time before he asked me!
For those who don’t know me, Disney is my favorite thing in the entire world, and I have the castle tattoo to prove it! When my mom told me she’d be taking our family to Disneyland I began hoping that Cory might propose to me then! I hoped, but didn’t expect it to actually happen.
how they asked – by Jordyn: The first day we were there, my family stressed that we arrive at the park super early so that we’d have more time to spend there, so of course I was on board! Just being there was good enough for me!
Immediately I went to the restroom and when I walked back outside, everyone was gone. I was confused for a moment but didn’t really care because I was in my favorite place on earth.
I walked to the nearest store with my mom and little brother to shop around when a cast member approached me with an envelope in hand. He mysteriously, and totally in character, asked if my name was Jordyn. Once I said yes he handed me the envelope, stared at me for a second, then walked off! Once I saw my name in Cory’s handwriting and the envelope sealed with a heart, (Cory’s personal touch when he writes me letters) I knew exactly what was happening!
I was taken on a scavenger hunt throughout the park to my favorite rides to find my “missing” family. Everywhere I went I was handed the next clue by one of my sisters or brother-in-law, and they led me to the castle where Cory had been waiting for me.
My heart was pounding and my eyes were swelling up with tears as I walked towards him. He hugged me tightly and told me how much he loved me and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. Then, he got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him! Of course I said yes! He had made my dreams come true! I felt like a princess, incredibly loved, and I couldn’t have dreamt up anything more special and magical! I am forever his princess, and he is my prince.
how they asked – by Cory: Jordyn has always been a Disney girl, and I’ve always viewed her as nothing less than a Disney princess. It only made sense that I would ask her to marry me at her favorite place on the planet…Disneyland! (Well, she actually prefers Disneyworld, but Disney is Disney.)
It started with an idea. An idea to take her on this adventure through the park that would lead her to me.
I knew I would need some help, so I decided to get the whole family involved. Before the trip, I made three care packages that contained pictures and clues. Each of these sealed letters were given to Jordyn’s sisters and brother-in-law. All three of them (Lindsey, Taylor and Caleb) we’re assigned to a different part of the park. I chose Jordyn’s three favorite rides, Space Mountain, Thunder Railroad and Pirates of the Caribbean.
I hired some lovely photographers to secretly follow her around on this scavenger hunt and capture some lasting memories. They also helped get everything set into place when we first entered the park.
A wonderful cast member from City Hall delivered the first letter to Jordyn personally, and from there the adventure began. She made her way around the park, opening clues that lead her from one family member to another. The final clue informed her that I was waiting for her by the castle.
As she and the rest of her family make their way back to the castle, I caught a glimpse of my soon to be fiancé walking towards me.I had been anxiously waiting for her under the castle’s drawbridge. My heart was pounding and it was full of excitement.
As she approached me, I grabbed her tightly and held back tears. After a few seconds of trying to compose myself, I stepped back and dropped a knee, asking her to marry me.
She said YES!
It was the greatest feeling seeing her dreams come true in front of Disney’s castle. Jordyn will always be my Princess, and it was nice acting as her Prince Charming for a day.
