How We Met
Dan and I both grew up in lower Manhattan. We attended the same elementary school and knew the same people. You’ll find us in the same school yearbooks, just in different classes and on different pages. We hadn’t officially met until 2004 at my best friend’s birthday party—his sister.
Dan has always been welcomed into my family and I have always been welcomed into his. He’s worked closely with my dad and brother’s in their moving business for the past 12 years. Today, he and my brother and cousin own a moving business together. His sister, Sophia, is still my best friend. Who would’ve known my best friend and my future husband were always by my side!
In October of 2017, we attended my brother Roby’s wedding and it was then we realized we had so much in common especially our love for all living creatures (we’re both vegan) and together advocate for all animals.
It’s been over 2 years and we are now proud parents to four rescue fur babies—Leo, Kali, Charlie and Fred. Our world revolves around them so no wonder he made them apart of the proposal.
How They Asked
Dan proposed to me on Broadway in the crosswalk where East 4th Street meets West 4th Street in NYC. I grew up on East 4th Street and Dan grew up on West 4th Street. The proposal spot is where East 4th and West 4th meet.
Dan surprised me with a photo shoot for our four rescue pups, hence the photographer. He knows how much I love our dogs and that the pure excitement of having a doggy photo shoot would distract me enough to not suspect anything. He used a moving truck from our family owned moving company LIFT NYC to pop the question. While taking photos in the intersection, the truck stopped behind us and he got down on one knee. Once I said yes, cars honked to congratulate us and others honked to tell us to get out of the way. It was a very New York proposal!
