How We Met
Jordan and I met through a mutual friend- she and I had been friends for years and Jordan works with her husband. One day she told me “I have the perfect person for you!” And my response… no thanks, not interested. Thank goodness she’s the type of friend who won’t take no for an answer when she knows what’s best for you! After a couple of weeks of convincing, I finally agreed to meet this man she promised was “everything you’ve ever wanted”. She was right!
Jordan and I had our first (blind!) date at an Angels baseball game-looking back I think it was pretty brave to commit that many hours to a first date! We still to this day have no idea what the final score was or who won that baseball game… we spend the entire game talking and completely immersed in our own little bubble. 4-hours just weren’t enough time so we ended up going to dinner after the game and closed the restaurant down. After our 10 hour first-date, we said goodbye and planned to see each other again very soon.
1 week later we had our second date and I remember calling my mom afterward and telling her “don’t freak out, but remember today’s date because this is the day I’m telling you I’m going to marry this man”. That was August 4th, 2019 and we’ve been together ever since.
How They Asked
Jordan and I talked about getting married pretty early into our relationship- when you know you know! Little did I know he would spend months planning every detail of our engagement and what would be the best day of my life. We had looked at rings together so I knew we could be getting engaged sooner than later but I had no idea when or how.
It was a normal Saturday morning for us. We planned on going on a mountain bike ride which is one of our favorite things to do together so we loaded up our bikes and headed to his brother and sister-in-law’s house where we would take off with his brother towards the trails. Of all days, today was the day those trails kicked my butt! I was huffing and puffing all the way up the mountain but everything still seemed completely normal- Jordan usually rides up ahead a bit and his brother stays behind with me (probably to make sure I don’t fall off the mountain! Haha).
We finally made it to the top where we sit on a bench overlooking the gorgeous view of the valley and mountains- my favorite part of the ride! Little did I know Jordan had my dream engagement ring in his left pocket and I would become his fiancé a couple of minutes later! He got down on one knee, asked me to marry him and I buried my face in my hands crying because I couldn’t believe I was actually going to get to marry the love of my life! His brother captured the moment with his phone and we finally rode back down the mountain while I asked a million questions about ‘Who knew?! When?! How?!” And “omg I have to call my mom!” (She lives in Texas).
We get back to his brother and sister-in-law’s house and walk in the door…. there’s the most gorgeous brunch set up with my future mother and sister in law cheering “Congratulations!”. I turn the corner and there’s my mom….. Jordan had her flown in from Texas to surprise me! *cue happy tears for DAYS!*
As if this wasn’t the most dreamy day of my life already, Jordan had planned a surprise engagement party for us that night with some of our closest friends and family. Needless to say, my future husband outdid himself and this turned into the most special weekend I’ve ever had!
