How We Met

Alex and I met at my place of work, which is funnily enough, where he used to work as well. I had noticed him for a while, and apparently, he had noticed me as well but was waiting for the right time to say something. The first time we talked was over his new car, a Ford Mustang, and he offered me a ride which I thought was just because he was trying to be nice. Little did I know, that soon we would start messaging and getting to know each other and that we hit it off immediately. We both fell pretty hard and quite fast, and pretty early on I thought that he definitely was the one.

how they asked

Alex and I were on our first vacation together at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. It was our third day in the parks, and we went to the Magic Kingdom that day. I loved Disney ever since I was a little girl, and had always wanted to eat dinner in Cinderella’s Castle for as long as I could remember. Throughout the day we had awesome Disney experiences and were really taking in everything that we could about our first trip together. Around 6:30, he said to me that we should go try and get a table at Cinderella’s Royal Table, just in case someone had canceled or anything like that. I knew that the chances of that were one in a million, but he went and tried anyway, and we got a table!! We waited in line outside the door, then we were whisked in to meet and greet with Cinderella and then escorted up a spiral staircase straight into the dining room. From our table next to the window, you could see the whole back of the park as the sun went down and the night lights came on. Our waiter greeted us, explained the menu of the night and we started to dine and enjoy this one in a million chance night together. After we had eaten and all of the plates were put away, they announced that the princesses would now start coming around to the tables and greeting us where we sat.

I saw a couple of photographers pop out of the kitchen but thought that they were with the princesses, and did not take much note of it. Soon after that, our waiter was at our table with a covered dish saying “I know we haven’t talked about dessert yet, but I do have this for you.” He placed the plate on the table and took the top off to reveal a glass slipped on a bed of rose petals, and at the same time Alex got up from his chair and moved to my side of the table. He reached into his pocket and got down on one knee and then I knew that this reservation was not just something that we happened upon.

He asked me to spend the rest of my life with him, and I said yes to spending the rest of my life with my best friend. Two photographers caught the whole moment, including after the proposal where they brought us champagne and signature chocolate desserts. Everyone around us clapped and cheered, telling us congratulations as we walked past their tables to leave the restaurant for the night. We watched the fireworks to close out the night, a magical experience to end a perfect night as we snapped one last portrait in front of the castle, but this one was our first as fiancés.
