how we met
We met during sophomore year of college at UC Berkeley. To be totally honest, the first time we met was at a college party (not the most romantic of settings!), but we went on dates all over the Bay Area. We loved going on hikes in the Berkeley hills and exploring San Francisco together.
how they asked
The proposal was a total surprise. It happened at Horseshoe Bend, a scenic lookout point over the Colorado River in northern Arizona. I chose this place because it was the last stop on our trip and I had heard how beautiful it was. The bend in the river also looks like a ring! Traveling is so important to us and I always knew I wanted to propose during one of our adventures. It was a gorgeous day, with blue skies and puffy white clouds. We had been camping for the past 8 days, so I had to come up with an excuse to have Dariella pack a nice outfit and get more dressed up than what is normal for camping. I told her I wanted to take good pictures at Horseshoe Bend and treat her to a nice dinner and that did the trick! Our friends definitely helped me plan the proposal. Dariella’s friend took her to get a manicure before we left for the trip and a friend of mine who is a photographer helped me find a local photographer in Arizona to capture the moment. Everything went very smoothly, Dariella was surprised, and our families loved the fact that we had a photographer capture a moment that they couldn’t be there for.
