How We Met
I had just moved to DC for work and didn’t know a soul. My friends convinced me download a dating app (JSwipe) and within a day I matched with a cute guy. We had mutual friends, and decided to meet up. He took me a well known French restaurant in DC, Le Diplomate. Little did he know, it was Bastille Day (French National day) and he had to work some magic to get us a table. He works for the NHL and NBA teams in DC so he ended up trading floor seats for opening night, just to get us a table!
Our second date was at a Nationals Game (pictured here) – we love sports! – and we’ve been together ever since. It’s been almost 4 years!
How They Asked
Erik knows I love to bake. So when our close friend invited us to a “VIP Private Event” at Milk Bar, I was pumped! He even had our friend who runs PR for Milk Bar send me a calendar invite that looked legit! Erik was supposed to be at the Caps playoff game, so I had to go to Milk Bar alone. When I walked into the classroom, I saw Erik standing there, in a suit, surrounded by candles.
He got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. Seconds later, our families came running out of the crowded bathroom they were hiding in, and our friends came rushing in from everywhere! He had friends fly in from Dallas, Miami, and NYC. He rented the room for the night and we spent all night laughing, crying, celebrating, and staring at my rock! You’ll notice I changed outfits, as my Mom came ready with 4 white dresses as options for me to change into. Everyone worked so hard to make this a success!
It was the best night of my life and now MilkBar will always be a special place for us! Birthday cake anyone?
