How We Met
The night I met Matt, I had dinner with my parents and my dad had just got done asking me “when are you going to meet someone, you hang out with the same people all the time”? I really didn’t want to go out that night but all my girlfriends were going to Cowboys Orlando, our usual hang out. It’s a good thing I went because that was the night I met my future husband. When I first saw Matt I was totally drawn to him.
I walked onto the dance floor, stood next to him and I guess I caught his attention! Matt and I had our first dance that night which is something special because dancing is a big part of our relationship today. Matt asked for my number that night and even though he was really bad at texting me back, the rest is history. After a couple of years living in different cities, Matt made the move to Orlando and 5 months later he was down on one knee!
How They Asked
The proposal was perfect. Matt asked me out on a date to spend the evening at Disney Springs. We ended up at having dinner and listening to live music at the outdoor restaurant and bar at Splitsville. Splitsville is actually where we had our first date on February 14, 2016. I’m not going to lie, as we were having dinner and listening to music I thought to myself “how perfect would this be if Matt proposed… It’s a perfect night, we’re listening to live music and we’re sitting at the same table we sat at on our first date”. Halfway through dinner, Matt asks me to dance. This was a supernormal ask, we usually dance when we go out to listen to music. When the song was over and Matt and I walked back to our table he handed me a money to put into the tip jar.
I walked over to the stage put the money in the jar and when I turned around Matt was down on one knee. I immediately went into a black hole, I didn’t even hear him ask me to marry him. I was so surprised, Matt looked up at me and said, “well”?? And I said, “you have to ask me”!! And he said “I did! You didn’t hear me! Will you marry me”? I said “YES”! I was shaking with excitement, everyone was cheering and clapping. Once we settled down, we called our family to share the news. My family was popping champagne in their kitchen, Matt’s parents and his brother and sister-in-law were so excited for us, and my mom-mom, said “it’s about time“!! Matt and I enjoyed the rest of our engagement night walking around Disney Springs, drinking hot chocolate and soaking up every moment.
