How We Met
I was working at Wetumpka Paint & Body as the front desk receptionist when I first saw Wes. He was friends with my boss, Brad, and had come in to see about getting his truck fixed where someone had rear-ended him. I will be honest, I did not like him at first. In fact, it took several months of persuasion from my boss that Wes was a great guy. After months of Wes “finding reasons to come by the shop”, I gave in to his charm and good smelling cologne. I am sure glad I did.
how they asked
The night before we left for a normal end of the Summer beach trip, Wes told me he had a surprise. That surprise was a photographer. We had always wanted to get professional pictures taken at the beach, so I did not think much about it. After being together for almost seven years, I knew the day was coming, but did not think it would be on this particular trip. Wes never once showed any signs of nervousness throughout the day. We met the photographer at 6:45 pm at the public beach in OBA. She started out taking a couple of pics on the walkway and then asked where I preferred the background to be……Dunes or the water. Of course I chose the water :) She had me sit on his knee for a photo (not knowing the ring was in the other pocket) I put my arm around his neck. I could feel him sweating, but I was hot as well so did not think it was nerves. Deep inside, he was dying. He said his heart was beating out of his chest. The photographer had me stand up and turn around to face him for another photo……..and there he was, on one knee, holding the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. Those were the happiest tears I’ve ever cried. August 24, 2017 is a day we will never forget.
