How We Met
Nick and I met in junior high school in 2006. We became close friends and loved to make fun of each other and joke around. When it was time for high school applications in 2009, Nick secretly chose the same high school as me ! We ended up going to Edward R. Murrow High School together and still remained close friends. In Junior year, we started to grow feelings for each other and wanted to be more than just friends. Nick asked me out on June 29th, 2012 after a night of watching the fireworks at Coney Island, and we have been together since!
How They Asked
Nick proposed to me on the day of our ugly sweater party at his house. A month before, he mentioned having another ugly sweater party since the first one we did was a success! I thought it was a great idea. We invited all of our friends and started searching for some ugly sweaters to wear! A week before the party, Nick called me and mentioned that we should do Secret Santa at the party so that we could make it more fun. I agreed and decided to take matters into my own hands and organize it myself! Not knowing that this is how Nick would propose, I matched up Secret Santa’s to all of our friends and gave them rules lol.
That night when we decided to reveal Secret Santas to each other, Nick and I sat together on the couch and watched as everyone started opening up their gifts. Once it was my turn I didn’t think too much of the small box in my hand. It was wrapped multiple times, with a box inside of another smaller box! Once I got to the last box and opened it up, Nick got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. All of our friends and family were in on the surprise and started to scream and cheer. It was a great night and I was so glad he planned it out where we were surrounded by our friends and family.
