How We Met
Matthew and I met in 8th grade, and have been best friends ever since. I should have known he would be more than my friend someday because he was the only person who stuck around through thick and thin. Throughout high school I had a few heartbreaks, lost a few friends, but Matt was always there. Right after graduation, I was single for the first time in a while, and good old liquid courage got Matt to finally tell me how he felt. “I think I am in love with you,” was all it took; and from then on I knew it was right because it took no effort for us to be together, right away, and has been effortless ever since.
how they asked
On October 16, 2017 at 10,056 feet of elevations in the mountains, Matt finally proposed after almost 6 years of being together. We had planned the trip months ago, so I had put no thought into this being the moment it would happen. After a day of hiking in, and fishing, I asked my cousin to get some photos of us with the beautiful blue lake we camped at in the background. We took a bunch of photos, and then wanted a couple facing the lake holding hands, and when I turned around to find out if she was done taking the photos, and he was down on one knee. I was completely shocked, and overwhelmed with happiness.
