how we met
Jimmy and I met through our families when we were both really young. At first we were just friends, but that quickly changed the more we got to know each other! Our relationship began when I was still in high school and we stayed together faithfully for 3 years. After many unfortunate circumstances, life tore us apart. Neither of us felt right about it, but we just wanted what would be best for the both of us. After two years apart, we finally reconnected. Not only did we know, but everyone around us knew, this was meant to be. Things quickly rekindled from there and we picked back up right where we left off.
how they asked
Jimmy FINALLY popped the question after a year and a half of dating again! He planned a date for us in Pittsburgh, PA at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden. We went through the exhibit, and I could tell Jimmy was preoccupied, but I just thought it was because he had worked a night shift the night before and only slept a few hours the morning before we left. Once we were done in the gardens, we went across the street, where he asked me to take a walk around the park with me. We SLOWLY walked around the park, and then he asked me to sit down and pick out a restaurant to eat at for dinner. I started to look up places to go to. After a few minutes looking at that, he asked me to go back across the street to a small garden outside of Phipps.
We walked through the garden, and then he asked me to sit down and told me he had a gift for me. He pulled a book with the title “The Reasons Why” out of his bag. I was still oblivious at this point, clearly not thinking!
The book had many pages with things he loves about me and our relationship. Some things were very sweet, some were romantic and there were many funny things. Once I got to the last page it read, “Will you marry me?”
I was so excited and surprised that the first thing I said was, “Is this for real!?” Once he put the ring on my finger he told me that he had a photographer taking pictures the whole time. I couldn’t have asked for a better day and I’m so happy that he thought to have pictures taken so we could remember the moment for the rest of our lives.
