How We Met
We met at a rooftop party on the Lower East Side. It was an unusually warm Saturday night in February, and a mutual friend invited us both to enjoy the nice weather. I was standing with my girlfriends when Jason came up to say hello – he introduced himself to me briefly and immediately caught my eye, but then was pulled away by his friends. A bit later that night, Jason came up to me again and we started talking. We spent the rest of the night getting to know each other and he asked for my number. He texted me the next day to schedule a date, and we’ve been inseparable ever since!
How They Asked
“How he asked” as told by the groom: The engagement was entirely planned and successfully pulled off during the COVID-19 Pandemic, which made the entire event a tricky surprise! Danielle and I live together, so I had to organize everything in my few moments alone, whenever I could come up with an excuse to leave the apartment. Danielle and I have been going on long walks on the weekends during the quarantine, and would always get excited about discovering new places in NYC. One of our favorite walks we had done was in Central Park, specifically near The Loeb and Bethesda Fountain.
My plan was to convince Danielle we should go for a good walk in the park over the weekend. On May 31, we took advantage of the gorgeous spring weather and walked all the way from our Greenwich Village apartment up into Central Park. We walked around enjoying the sights and scenery and made our way to one of our favorite spots called Hernshed, with beautiful views of the water and the skyline.
It’s a special spot for us so I took out my phone for a selfie, and it was then and there that I dropped down on one knee and popped the question! I had our amazing photographer Vlad and his assistant Tatiana nearby capturing the perfect moment!
