How We Met
After chatting for weeks online through Plenty of Fish, we met up for our first date at a Japanese spot in Southern Pines, NC. Prior to, we had shared laughs over anticipated Disney car karaoke sessions, which is what initially piqued my interest— we were both huge Disney fans. Although Dan was extremely quiet and shy at first, he finally got the courage to talk to me, and I’m so thankful that he did. That evening was sealed with a kiss through a lost bet on a football game and we’ve been together ever since that day.
How They Asked
In April of 2018, I told Dan that I loved him for the first time after sharing dinner at Chefs de France in Epcot at Walt Disney World. We’d hit the parks all day, walked in the pouring rain while taking a photo in each country, shared margaritas, and eaten until our hearts were content. A year later, we shared dinner there again on April 19, 2019 (Good Friday). Ironically, after another walk in the pouring rain, while hiding under an umbrella, Dan lead me to Seabreeze Point on the Boardwalk at WDW and got down on one knee. Luckily the photography team from Sees the Day photography was there to capture it all.
The entire proposal story is funny because I have naturally curly hair that I had straightened in an effort to make myself look somewhat perfect for our dinner that night, but the rain had other plans. The Sees the Day photography team saw what was happening after the initial moment and let Dan and I “pause” our photos long enough for me to go up to our room to wet my entire (now frizzy) head so that my hair would curl back up to its natural state for the remainder of our engagement session.
The rest of our week was nothing short of magical… We had dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table, dining with the best of Disney princesses, met Mr. & Mrs. Easter Bunny, shared HUGE ice cream sundaes from Beaches and Cream, watched the Happily Ever After fireworks, rode every single ride we wanted, and received so many ‘congratulations’ from guests of WDW and cast members.
Our trip was one that I will never forget!
