How We Met
On September 17th, 2016 I was celebrating a friend’s birthday party at his girlfriend’s house. She piped up and said, “hey Daniel sooooo not to be weird or anything but there’s this girl Andrea coming over and she’s really pretty and single and I don’t know, I told her you were single too and I thought maybe y’all could talk!” Here I was, wanting to relax and enjoy a few drinks with my friends and now I have to entertain a girl! I had no idea that the girl who would walk in through that door was beautiful, funny, smart, and kind. Any thoughts of being smooth and charming, however, went out the window from the start. Not only did I consistently get her name wrong all night, I led her head straight into a low hanging chandelier when I went in for an introductory handshake. To my utter astonishment, she DM’d me a few days later and the rest is history.
how they asked
I’m mildly obsessed with history. I can’t rattle off important dates or the names of lots of important figures but something about the idea of there being an infinite number of decisions made by other people that ultimately made us who we are today is at least some tasty food for thought. With this in mind, I set out to collect written and recorded statements from all the people in HER life who made her who she is today. I wanted to let her know that I don’t just appreciate the kind, loving, beautiful person she is now, but that I am forever thankful to the people who helped her become that.
So after lots of secret phone calls and an immense amount of help from her immediate family, especially her mother, I compiled letters and videos from her parents, siblings, grandparents, extended family, old friends, college roommates, and more. Finally, to top it all off, I hired some graphic design help to create an artistic representation of our love- once separate- now together forever.
