Dani and Zach

How We Met: Zach and I met when I was a 17 year old senior in high school and he was a sophomore at Texas A&M University. We were both going to Passion Conference in Atlanta, GA with a group of mutual friends.

The moment we met, I immediately knew there was something special about this blue-eyed guy with a head full of dreads. Throughout the whole trip all of my girl friends joked about how we were going to date when I moved up to College Station for my freshman year at Texas A&M. But of course, I shrugged it off because I was certain that this cute, older boy wouldn’t have any interest in me. Sure enough, I moved to College Station not long after I turned 18 and Zach and I began hanging out with friends, just getting to know one another. A few short weeks later he asked me on our first date. It didn’t take long for me to fall completely in love with his character, sense of humor, love for adventure and most of all his love for our God.

how they asked: I was in Pensacola visiting Zach for my final Spring Break of college. He had mentioned a few times that Saturday was going to be a big “date day.” Throughout our whole relationship Zach plans dates but they are always a surprise so I didn’t dare ask what was on the agenda for Saturday. Finally the long awaited “date day” had arrived and we started out the day on a… sail boat!

He had rented a sail boat and a captain to take us out on the water for a few hours to enjoy the beautiful day. I was so surprised and I loved being able to relax in the sun! After a few hours on the water we walked around downtown and eventually headed home to shower and get dressed for our evening. Then we were off to enjoy a nice seafood dinner! (Possibly the best salmon I’ve ever had, haha) After dinner we drove to Fort Pickens. We walked around and looked at all the ruins until we found a path to the beach.

As we walked toward the water there was a cute little picnic set up with a bouquet of flowers and some cheese cake. We ate tons of cheese cake and enjoyed the view until Zach stood me up, told me how much he loved me, got down on one knee and pulled out the most beautiful ring I had ever seen.

Of course, I said yes and he slipped the ring on my finger. It had been the most memorable day ever and little did I know that I had one more surprise. After we took pictures on the beach, we walked back to our car and all of my friends popped out to surprise me!!

They drove all the way from Texas to share the evening with us and make Zach and I feel so loved.

It was the best day.
