How We Met
We technically met on Tinder, a little over 4 years ago. I had just moved to the city of Pittsburgh for a summer internship. I decided to try out Tinder and within a few days on the app, Alex and I matched. Immediately we began chatting on the app, and within an hour or so, that transitioned to texts. Four days later, we went on our first date. While on that first date, we happened to be taking a walk and encountered his one friend Josh.
Once the date was over, I drove myself home and strangely found his friend Josh on my apartment’s couch. I asked him what he was doing there, and I quickly realized that he was casually dating my one summer roommate.
Funny enough, prior to the first date with my now fiancé, I had agreed to go on a blind double date/hangout on the following day with this roommate, the guy she was dating, and one of his friends. We quickly put it together that my blind date was actually going to be with my now fiancé, Alex. So we say that we technically met on Tinder, but we were destined to meet a few days later regardless.
How They Asked
Our anniversary is on the Fourth of July, so a fun day that we always celebrate with friends, and then have our actual anniversary date on a different day. This year was our fourth anniversary, and I was anticipating a proposal soon, we’d been talking about it for a while. Maybe a little heavily on my part, hehe ?
We were on top of our friend’s apartment building as there is an open roof for grilling and lots of tables and chairs. As the day went on, I seemed to forget about the possibility of a proposal.
Once the fireworks show started over the city, I could tell something was up. Typically, people like to crowd around the gated edge of the roof to get the best view of the fireworks, but no one was standing around Alex and me, leaving a wide gap around us. Our song started playing all of a sudden, and I knew something was up. He tapped my shoulder, and I turned around to see my best friend down on one knee with my dream ring in his hand. He wasn’t even able to get the words out before I practically jumped on him yelling that I would marry him.
It was the best day of my life so far, and I can’t wait to begin planning a wedding and life with him.
