How We Met
I met my fiancee Miguel in January 2016, we both attended Antillean Adventist University, we have mutual friends and he didn’t hesitate to ask them for my name. A few days after that he saw me getting lunch at the university’s cafeteria and walked up to me to introduce himself, followed me to my seat and we talked for two hours straight. that’s when it all began. The next day he showed up to my dorm just to ask me about my day, that led to us hanging out every day as our friendship grew. That June he confessed his love to me as I was back home for the summer, from the shock I didn’t talk to him for a few weeks until I prayed and thought about it and I knew I loved him too. He is my best friend, cared for me while being far from home and who always puts God in our relationship. There is nobody that makes me as happy as him, constantly making me laugh and we enjoy doing the same things. One of the many things that showed me he was the one was when we were hit by hurricane Maria and we survived more than a month without water or electricity, we made it through together with the little we did have. God sent me the most amazing gift which is Miguel.
how they asked
Valentine came and I had been sensing that he was going to propose but instead he surprised me with a romantic picnic and a nice gift, but I knew that it was coming soon from how much we had talked about it. Four days after that, we were attending our university’s Valentines Day banquet that was at Castillo Serralles in Ponce, Puerto Rico. We were enjoying our time at the banquet taking lots of pictures when one of my friend’s coming up to sit between Miguel and I and started talking to me, Miguel had a strange look on his face and excused himself to go to the bathroom. I got a bit concerned and told my friend that I was going to go check on him but she grabbed my hand and pulled me to take pictures with her.
Miguel came back still having that strange look on his face and I asked him what was wrong but he didn’t want to tell me, that’s when he grabbed my hand and we started walking towards the garden. He pulled out the ring from his pocket and dropped to one knee and I automatically started crying as he asked me the sweetest question “Daly, will you marry me?”, I was crying too hard that I forgot to answer him so he asked me “Baby, yes or no?”, I said “YES!”. We cried and hugged, it was so thought out and special because that day we were celebrating a year and seven months together. After that, he sang to me in front of all the people that were there that night. I can’t wait to spend forever with my best friend and soulmate.
