Sam and Jennifer | Dallas Marriage Proposal
How We Met: Sam and I met in the Spring of 2010 at Texas Tech after being set up by a mutual friend. On our first date, I realized that there were a lot of things that we were both interested in like travel and spending time outdoors, at the lake, etc. I was impressed by all he had done in his life and was very interested to learn more about him.
We spent a few months casually dating and taking trips to the lake until he graduated and we both moved back to DFW for the summer. He went on a trip to Europe and I realized I really missed him and couldn’t believe that he called to tell me goodnight (no matter the time in Europe) every single night for almost a month of travelling. After that summer, we continued dating through my move back to Lubbock, graduating college, moving to Colorado and eventually back to DFW in the fall of 2011. After that year and a half of long distance it felt good to be able to live close to each other and get to know one another better. Over the last 4 years we have grown individually and as a couple. It has been such a natural fit and we couldn’t be happier to be getting married and to continue our lives as one.
There are so many things that I love about Sam from his ambition to the way he cares for me. He is always remembering things that make me happy and actively seeking ways to show me that he loves me. It is so easy to love him and I know that the best is yet to come.
Saturday was such a special day for me. Sam had secretly arranged for me to have the day off work (I am in the event industry and often have weddings to work on Saturdays). We spent the first part of the day at the Perot museum which was so much fun. Then he took me to the Fairmont and told me we would be having a progressive dinner and this was our first stop.
As we were on our way to our next restaurant, we walked passed First Baptist Dallas. We stopped to admire the beautiful renovations and water feature in the front. After standing there for a few moments, Sam got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
It was such an incredible moment and the setting was absolutely perfect. I am so glad that Hilary was there to capture our emotions (even though I was in a bit of shock!). After that, we had dinner and went to his parents house. There was an amazing party for us there and he had invited all of our closest friends and family. I was simply overwhelmed by everyone’s joy and excitement for us. It was an incredible evening full of love and I know I will never forget it.
