How We Met
Tyler and I met in the early spring of 2014. We were both pursuing careers in law enforcement and were overlapping in our training at the academy. Tyler and I first laid eyes on each other at a running track on base, and it was love at first sight. Tyler and I didn’t talk that day but definitely noticed each other. A week later we met again at the bar on base, after some liquid courage and stealing looks from across the bar, I finally decided to go introduce myself. Because Tyler was ahead of me in completing training he knew he was going to a post back home. I was left in the dark for 3 months and a long distance before I knew my post. Finally I got word I was going back home (this was all working out !).
Fast forward to coming home, we bought a house halfway between our postings, bought a dog (Duke) and did things a little backwards.
how they asked
He went over on Christmas Eve unbeknownst to me to ask my dad permission to marry me. Christmas Day I was working a 12 hour shift and would be joining Tyler and the rest of my family at my Oma and Opas for our Christmas dinner and gift opening. After opening gifts and while everyone was still in the family room relaxing, Tyler said he had one more gift for me that I had been waiting for. Tyler turned around got down on one knee and told me I was the love of his life and asked if I would marry him. Within seconds of saying yes and slipping the ring on my finger, I looked up and my family was in a huge group hug around us and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
