How We Met
We grew up in the same hometown, but the first time we really talked was the summer going into 10th grade. At 14 years old, I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Seamus. We did four years of long-distance through college, and although it wasn’t easy, we met some incredible people along the way who will be standing next to us when we say “I do.” Today we have been together nine and a half years, and I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart that every day gets better.
How They Asked
It was the Saturday morning of labor day weekend and we were at Seamus’ families house in Cape Cod. He woke me up to tell me that we were going to breakfast with his family so to get showered and put on something to go to breakfast. When I walked downstairs he told me that he saw something on the beach on his morning run this morning and he wanted to show me. Me, being stubborn, I said: “let’s just go look after breakfast.” But he insisted, so I followed. As we were walking down the stairs to the beach, it struck me. I thought to myself “oh my gosh this is happening isn’t it?” I starting shaking.
He told me “There’s nothing down here, it’s just me and you…” He got down on one knee and we both lost it. I will never forget that moment. I said yes and he put the ring on my shaking finger. All of a sudden I heard cheering from a distance. I looked up and saw my family, his family, and all of our closest friends from high school and college. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. The most special people in our world were watching over us as I said yes to forever with my best friend and the love of my life.
