How We Met
Carder and I both attended the University of Oklahoma. We had some mutual friends, and one of his friends invited me over for a super bowl party. I’m not the biggest football fan, so I was kind of bored (looking forward to Beyoncé’s performance). Then he walked in, and we instantly locked eyes, and I felt like an old friend walked in the door.
He walked over right away & we talked all night. Both of our friends assumed we already knew each other, and were dumbfounded when they realized we didn’t. Our connection was so instant & looking back we both knew we found the person we’d marry that night. Unfortunately, I still have to watch a lot of football.
How They Asked
We were on a ski trip with his family in Park City, Utah. We decided to take a day off & explore the town (and watch the Cowboys game). We started off our day by going to brunch at The St. Regis. During brunch, I got up to go to the bathroom, and when I came out he asked if I’d go look at the view outside with him. As we went outside I noticed he started to get more serious, and he told me to just take in this view because it would be important one day. He continued telling me about how deeply he loved me, how thankful he was for me, and how excited he was for our future.
Then he got down on one knee & asked me to marry him, to which I obviously said yes! His family popped out, and a crowd of strangers was cheering. I was crying and laughing with happiness. It was snowing, and the most magical moment of my life. He also used the center stone of my grandmother’s ring and had it reset on a new setting, so the ring holds even more meaning to me. I’m so excited to spend the rest of my life with my best friend and love of my life.
