how they asked: On the morning of June 6, 2015 I woke up like any other Saturday morning, with a plan in my head of how my day would go. My soon-to-be fiancé was in Monroe, Louisiana where he was currently living and I didn’t think he had any plans on visiting me in Houston, Texas that weekend. This particular Saturday my 2yr old daughter was invited to a birthday party so our day was centered around making it to the party.
Around 11am that morning I received a phone call from one of my very best college girl friends, Carolyn, asking to come pick up my daughter just “to spend some quality time with her,” that’s the story she was sticking with LOL. I made her aware that we had plans to go to a birthday party & she could come pick her up afterwards but she was very adamant on picking her up as soon as possible. After a lot of persuasion and a lot of guilt tripping (Saying she hasn’t seen her in forever) I just gave in and told her she could come get her.
Carolyn arrived to my place about a hour or two later. I had just moved into a brand new place so naturally I offered to show her around. Little did I know, she knew that would happen so she used that opportunity to map out how she would help setup my dream proposal in my new place in her head.
A little after Carolyn and my daughter left I received a phone call from my then boyfriend saying he was on his way in town to come hangout for the day and to take me to a nice dinner given the fact that we had not seen each other for a few weeks prior to that weekend. Even at this point I still had no clue what the day had in store because it was nothing out of the ordinary for him to decide last minute to come into town.
With excitement, I started to get myself together (it just so happened I decided to wear ALL WHITE haha). Once my boyfriend arrived he immediately wanted to head to grab a bite to eat. Little did I know he had already been in town for a little bit and met up with Carolyn to give her his 3year old son, who I had no idea was in town as well.
Once we left my place he waited until we got to the parking garage to say he “accidentally” left his phone back in the place. This was all apart of his plan so that way he could leave the keys on the island for Carolyn to be able to have access in my place while we were at dinner and setup the most beautiful proposal scene. (a BIG thanks to my BFF for all her help) I just waited in the garage while he ran back to get his phone.
We enjoyed dinner for about 2hours full of laughing, reminiscing, and toasting to the future. Once the date night was over we headed back to the place and as I was walking down the hallway I had NO idea what I was about to walk into. When I walked through my front door I walked into my place full of white rose petals, candles, and HUGE white balloon arch with a white aisle leading up to the arch, a huge photo of us he had blown up and our favorite song “All of me” by John Legend playing in the background.
I was in disbelief. Then when I saw both of our kids there waiting for me at the end of the aisle with signs around their neck I just about lost it lol. His son’s sign read “Will you marry my daddy” and my daughter’s sign said “Say YES Mommy.”
It was the sweetest thing ever. The fact that he thought to include our two angels made it my DREAM proposal. Of course, I said YES! I love how intimate it was with just us and our soon to be new little family. I couldn’t ask for a better guy :)
