Corinne and Kevin
How We Met
My fiancé and I met 9 years ago at the mall. Long story short… I fell in love with my “blind date’s,” friend! My friend and I were meeting boys at mall who we met online (I know, scary!) We got to the mall and met them at Starbucks and I knew right away I wasn’t interested in the guy I was supposed to meet, but I thought his friend was super cute! The 4 of us got Starbucks and Kevin and I kept making eye contact and smiling at each other trying to not make it obvious. I got the feeling that Kevin seemed shy because he was quiet and didn’t talk much, and if you know me… I am quite the opposite! So when it was getting late and time to leave, me with my outgoing, bubbly, personality just asked Kevin for his number right in front of his friend! Kevin respectfully asked his friend if it was OK to give him his number and his friend said yes, and the rest was history! We non-stop texted back and fourth that whole week on our ‘flip phones’ and couldn’t wait to see each other again. We went on our first date that next weekend to the movies and after that first date, I realized it really was love at first sight!
how they asked
It was December 3rd 2016, the first weekend of December, we planned to go to spend the day in NYC to ice skate at Rockefeller Center and see the Christmas tree! We took an early train and I remember it was a mild winter day.
We ice skated for a few hours, drank hot chocolate, and listened to Christmas music (the most wonderful time of the year!) It was still light outside to go see the Christmas tree so Kevin asked if I want to go walk in Central Park, so we did! We walked almost all of Central Park grounds and everything was decorated for Christmas, it was just beautiful! We kept walking and walking and there was no one in sight, we were walking towards a bridge, and out of complete no where, Kevin got down on one knee and popped the question! I was in complete shock!!! I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much in my life but quickly had to pull it together because I couldn’t wait to call my family and friends to tell them the news!
After we made all of our phone calls, Kevin surprised me with reservations at an Italian Restaurant to celebrate, and then afterwards we finally caught a glimpse of the Christmas tree! And to this day I’ll never forget how Kevin said right after he proposed, “Babe you have no idea how nervous I was about your ring being in my jacket pocket that whole morning, I felt so relieved to put it on your finger!” It was the absolute best day of my life and I am so happy that I get to spend the rest of my life with my absolute best friend.
