Alyssa and Sam's Color Run Marriage Proposal
How we met: Sam and I met in May of 2010 at a frat party, real romantic right? He had a huge crush on me, but he was a few years younger than me and I was not interested at all! I moved to Florida the next month for school and we kept talking through text messages for a few months.
As time went by we wanted to be together, but we were 3,000 miles apart. Long distance never works, right? Well we decided to try it anyway.
We did long distance for a year and half, and it was totally worth it.
We would rent the same movie, order the same take out and have a Skype date together from across the country. We would fly out to see each other every month taking turns to travel, never missing a single month, we had a lot of sky miles!
After a year and half he moved to Florida, and we moved in together. It was the best, easiest decision of our lives. It wasn’t difficult, it didn’t cause problems, it just made sense, everything was perfect.
We traveled everywhere together instead of to see each other, we went to Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, Italy, Spain, Greece, Ireland, England, Switzerland and France!!
how they asked: Sam and I had been dating for a little over 4 years, we are both very into fitness and health. We run together, go to the gym together, and cook healthy meals together. A year and a half ago we ran The Color Run the day after I graduated University, so we looked to see if there would be a Color Run around when he graduated, and there was one the week before! we signed up and counted down to this big week where he would finally graduate and we could celebrate with the most fun 5k ever!
The day comes and my whole family and my best friend came to run with us, except we totally lost them early on in the run! Once we finished they were all there! They cut through and didn’t run the whole thing to be at the end before us!
We are all taking pictures of how colorful we had become and during a picture with Sam and I, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I totally lost it and cried like a baby, I tried to get words out but I ended up just nodding. I couldn’t even stand up!
My dad got the whole thing on video and my sister got a bunch of pictures.
I keep going back to this day wishing it never ended. It was the best day of my life!
