How We Met
Claire and Craig’s love story began during the Bedlam (Oklahoma University vs. Oklahoma State University) football game in 2018. After an Oklahoma win (Go Sooners!), Claire went with some friends to grab some pizza and drinks. Not too long after sitting down, Craig sat down next to Claire at the bar!
Claire and Craig began chatting and they soon found out that there was something extremely special about each other. Claire soon knew that committing to dating Craig also came with “army-girlfriend” tasks– which would entail a little more work to see each other! After their first date, they would make it a point to see each other every weekend despite living in different towns! A year and a half later, Claire made the decision to make a change and move into Lawton, OK, where Craig lived.
Things changed quickly for both of them! Not only were they now in the process of moving Claire, Claire was also in the works of finishing up her graduate degree. And then– Covid-19 came! Claire and Craig’s big vacation that they had planned to celebrate with one another was soon canceled! There went Craig’s big plans of proposing on a beach side with the family!
How They Asked
A few weeks later, Claire was in the search for a local photographer to take pictures of them at one of their favorite places in Lawton, OK, the Wichita Mountains! She needed wall decor for her home which consisted of professional photos while Craig was still scheming on how to propose to Claire! Craig then contacted the photographer that Claire booked with and they planned the proposal during the photo session (smart man… smart man!) And within the first few pictures of the photo session, Craig got down on one knee with a shaking hand and asked Claire to marry him!
It was no surprise that Claire said yes as she was ready to take on the new “army-wife” tasks! The natural excitement and nerves throughout the rest of the session were all there as these two were about to be hit with some news. Just as Claire was getting used to the ring on her finger, Craig found out he would be deploying for nine months with his unit starting in November. For now, these two are treasuring their next few months together and squeezing in as much quality time as they can as fiancés!
