How We Met
Dylan is from Australia and I am from New Zealand. We met through a mutual friend in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, where we were both living. I remember instantly being attracted to him, but he was leaving to go traveling with his girlfriend at the time so I quickly pushed this thought to the back of my mind.
8 months later I moved back to Palma and was desperately needing to find somewhere to live. Not knowing many people who may need a flatmate, I reluctantly messaged Dylan on Facebook to see if he knew anyone that had a spare room. He didn’t. However, he had recently moved into a new house himself and invited me and my friends over for a bbq.
Upon arriving at his house, I was instantly attracted to him again. And best of all, I also found out he was now single! After an amazing bbq he messaged me and asked me on a date…the rest is history!
How They Asked
Dylan and I had a 5 week holiday planned, our first stop being a couple of days in New York. I am a dancer, so for Christmas, he got me a present of a dance photo shoot with my favorite dance photographer who is based in New York!
I was super excited about this photo shoot and myself and the photographer was in contact a lot in the weeks leading up to it planning my outfits etc. The photo shoot took place by the Hudson River, under Brooklyn Bridge on a freezing cold January day.
Near the end of the photo shoot, Silpa the photographer suggested getting Dylan in for a photo. As I am always the one that takes the photos on our travels I was delighted at the thought of having some nice photos together! She placed us in position and went back to start taking photos.
As I leaned towards Dylan for our pose, he fumbled in his pocket, took out a ring, went down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I was so ecstatic and surprised that I just started giggling! It took me a while to say yes through all the giggles!
We spent the rest of the afternoon strolling over the Brooklyn Bridge, admiring the amazing view of Manhattan and soaking up so much happiness! (The giggles still hadn’t subsided!)
